What Makes A Good Blog?

It seems like every website has a blog at this point. It keeps your clients up to date and well-informed. But what makes a blog good? First and foremost, it’s better to have an intriguing cover image or no one is reading it!  3 quick steps to remember when choosing an image:

  • Ensure color and font are in brand guidelines
  • Write a short and snappy headline
  • The image should reflect the content of the blog

If you don’t have a Canva account yet, this is your sign to get one!

Keep ‘em Reading!

Now that you have captured your audience, you need to keep them engaged. Make sure the body of the blog is engaging AND informative. Foodservice is always evolving and topics like green technology, new hires, trending recipes and styles, events, and equipment demos will always be topical and have new content available. Remember, you are the expert on manufacturers and your clients want your expertise.

Keep the voice of your blog posts consistent with your brand.

Your voice keeps your readers hooked. Not to toot our own horn, but our clients follow this guideline. If you are solution-based, your blog should solve a problem. If you are sales, your blog should be selling new products. And if your brand is fun, your blog should be too. Break your blog into paragraphs to make each thought digestible and do your research! Make sure you are knowledgeable about the topic in your blog post. Links to resources and references within the text help support your point and flesh out concepts for readers with additional materials while keeping your blog concise.

And Lastly…

Proofread, proofread, proofread! If you are writing and editing your pieces, see if you can get a fresh eye to look at them. The constant rereading can cause us to miss spelling and grammar errors. And if you can’t find a person, there is always Grammarly. Grammarly is wonderful because it not only catches grammar errors but helps with paring down your language and tightening the post. Complete the blog with a call to action. It can be as bold as telling them to purchase your new product or as simple as asking a question to get feedback. Now that we’ve given you the tools, go build your blog.*

*like that little call to action, right there 😉
